Modoc is a dog and not just any dog.  He is a dog named after an elephant, and not just any elephant.

He is named in tribute of “The Greatest Elephant that Ever Lived” according to author Ralph Helfer.  Modoc’s size is also a tribute to this great elephant, but his size is something to which he is not privy.

Here is my rendition of the gentlest giant that I know, as a birthday present to another gentle giant.  Happy Birthday, Dad!
